Traveller Advisory: Temporary Changes to Checked Baggage Screening at YXS
Last Updated: July 17, 2026 at 1512
The Prince George Airport Authority has been advised that repairs to its checked baggage screening system are anticipated to take approximately 10 business days. During this time, temporary manual checked baggage screening procedures will remain in place at the Prince George Airport.
Passengers travelling with checked baggage should continue to arrive early and allow additional time for check-in and checked baggage screening.
Prince George Airport Authority is advising travellers of temporary changes to checked baggage screening following an equipment issue affecting CATSA’s checked baggage screening system.
To maintain screening operations, CATSA has implemented temporary manual checked baggage screening procedures while repairs are underway. As a result, passengers travelling with checked baggage may experience longer than normal processing times and delays to some departing flights.
To improve processing, CATSA has relocated its temporary manual checked baggage screening operation to the International Arrivals area of the terminal. This temporary setup allows multiple screening queues to operate simultaneously while repairs continue.
Prince George Airport continues to work closely with CATSA and our airline partners to minimize impacts to travellers and maintain safe, secure operations throughout the terminal.
What travellers should know
All passengers should:
- Arrive at the airport earlier than you normally would.
- Check your flight status with your airline before leaving for the airport.
- Follow the direction of airport, airline and CATSA staff while travelling through the terminal.
If you are travelling with checked baggage
- Check in with your airline if required.
- Proceed to the temporary checked baggage screening area located in the International Arrivals area of the terminal, where CATSA will manually screen your checked baggage.
- Once your checked baggage has been screened, proceed to the security screening checkpoint.
If you are travelling with carry-on baggage only
- Check in with your airline if required.
- Proceed directly to the security screening checkpoint.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers while this issue is being addressed.
