Snowfall Warning in Effect for Fort George Region
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Fort George region, with a renewed snowfall event forecast to begin this afternoon or evening and continue through Wednesday (December 16 – 18, 2025).
Forecasts indicate approximately 10–15 cm of snow, starting tonight and persisting into tomorrow morning. Additional light snowfall is possible in the days following. Temperatures are expected to remain mild through mid-day Thursday before declining rapidly toward the weekend.
Snowfall occurring during warmer temperatures can lead to rapid compact formation, resulting in slippery driving conditions and reduced visibility. As temperatures drop, winter driving conditions may persist while snow and ice removal continues.
Highway and road conditions
Highway maintenance crews have advised that anti-icing applications are underway and that the highway and secondary road network will remain a priority throughout the event, with additional resources deployed as required.
Airport travel advisory
Travellers heading to or from Prince George Airport (YXS) are encouraged to allow extra travel time, monitor road conditions, and adjust travel plans as needed. Weather conditions may impact flight schedules, and passengers should confirm flight status directly with their airline before travelling.
YXS will continue to monitor weather conditions and maintain safe airport operations.
