Non-Passenger Screening (NPS) Begins December 6 at Prince George Airport

Prince George, BC – The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) is advising travellers and visitors that Non-Passenger Screening (NPS) operations will begin at 0400 on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in coordination with the return of WestJet’s weekly non-stop service to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (PVR) until April 25, 2026.

The implementation of NPS at YXS is a federal requirement for airports offering international service. The program, operated by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), enhances airport safety by screening all individuals entering restricted areas who are not travelling as passengers, including airport employees, contractors, and service providers.

Screening will take place daily between 0400 and 0030, or until the final arriving flight has been processed through a dedicated NPS line.

“With international service returning to YXS, this is a natural step to ensure we meet all national and international security requirements,” said Geoff Ritchie, President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority. “We appreciate the cooperation of our staff, tenants, and partners as CATSA introduces this enhanced screening process.”

Service providers and retailers are encouraged to plan deliveries, and equipment moves during off-peak periods to minimize congestion.
