Statement from Prince George Airport Regarding Aircraft Incident on Foothills Boulevard

Prince George Airport was notified this afternoon of an aircraft emergency and prepared to receive the aircraft for an emergency landing at YXS. Airport emergency response resources were placed on standby.

The aircraft ultimately did not land at Prince George Airport, and the airport response was stood down after the occurrence took place on Foothills Boulevard and municipal emergency responders attended the scene.

We are saddened by the loss of life confirmed by RCMP and extend our condolences to the family and loved ones, as well as to everyone affected by this serious incident.

At this time, the Prince George Airport Authority does not have verified information regarding the aircraft’s point of origin or intended destination, the circumstances leading to the emergency, or the condition of those who were on board.

Questions regarding the scene, occupants or emergency response should be directed to Prince George RCMP. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will assume conduct of the aviation safety investigation, and questions regarding the circumstances or cause of the occurrence should be directed to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB).

Prince George Airport remains operational.
