Prince George, BC- The next two weeks will be busy with routine fire training at the Prince George Airport (YXS). Locals are reminded these fires pose no threat to the public or surrounding areas.
These fires are held in self-contained training facilities under controlled circumstances and are part of ongoing recurrent fire training and certification.
Training is scheduled to start today, Tuesday, June 23 and run intermittently for two weeks. The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) Operations Team will practice their skills between the hours of 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
These fires may produce dark smoke in and around the airport area which has, in the past, caused concern from local residents resulting in increased call volumes to your agencies.
Training will be postponed if there is a lightning storm in the area.
