Prince George, BC— Passengers can expect to see a few changes taking place at the Prince George Airport. The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) is getting its 2019 capital improvements underway, starting with upgrades to the departure lounge, where a new food and beverage service will be installed.
“From our passenger surveys, we know that the lack of food and beverage service in the departure lounge is a concern for passengers.” says PGAA President and CEO, John Gibson. “With the addition of a restaurant and last year’s addition of the elevator, we will have addressed the two biggest issues raised by airport users.”
The first visible step of the departure lounge transformation will be relocation of the vending machines. The vending machines and family washroom in the departure lounge will be unavailable from March 6 until April 1. Once the machines are installed in their new location, they will be available throughout the rest of construction. The family washroom will reopen by April, and construction will not affect the two primary washrooms in the departure lounge. There will be no coffee available inside the departure lounge until the new food and beverage services open, in the second quarter of 2019.
During the restaurant construction, the departure lounge will lose some seating. “We ask for passengers’ patience during construction, while we improve our facilities to serve you better.” says Gibson.
