Prince George, BC- Prince George residents are being asked not to panic if they see black smoke
coming from the Prince George Airport (YXS) area. As part of ongoing recurrent fire training and
certification, the Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) will be conducting aviation related
fires in the fire training area of YXS tomorrow and next week.
Training is scheduled to commence tomorrow morning, Thursday, September 3rd from
11:30am – 1:00pm and take place at the same time Tuesday, September 8th.
These fires may produce dark smoke in and around the airport area which has, in the past,
caused concern from local residents resulting in increased call volumes to your agencies.
These fires are held in self-contained training facilities under controlled circumstances and pose
no threat to the public or surrounding areas.
