Two of Four Fuel Tanks Installed at YXS

Two fuel tanks were installed at the Prince George Airport today which marks a major step in moving our Cargo Tech-stop project forward.

Prince George Airport Authority Director of Operations, Cuyler Green, says “these tanks will hold 150,000 litres of Jet Fuel each. They are the largest tanks to ever be
brought into British Columbia by road or rail.”

PGAA president and CEO John Gibson says “We are in contract talks with a number of fuel distributors who will store the fuel onsite. This common fuel facility can also act as a jet fuel depot for other northern airports.”

Two more tanks will arrive and be installed on Monday. The 22.7 tonne tanks are 14.17 m (46.5 ft) long, 4.75 m (15.6 ft) high and 3.84 m (12.6 ft) wide. They were trucked in from Tisdale, Saskatchewan. Once the tanks are filled, there will be enough jet fuel onsite to refuel 6 wide body aircraft.

The installation of these tanks is the last piece of the puzzle in regards to the infrastructure required to serve large aircraft.
