Routine Fire Training Taking Place at YXS

Prince George, BC- It’s that time of year again where fire training at the Prince George Airport (YXS) is taking place. Locals are reminded these fires pose no threat to the public or surrounding areas.

These fires are held in self-contained training facilities under controlled circumstances and are part of ongoing recurrent fire training and certification.

Training is scheduled to start tomorrow, Wednesday, July 5 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) Operations Team will practice their skills over the span of the summer, but at this point no other dates have been finalized. Once confirmed, media will be notified.

These fires may produce dark smoke in and around the airport area which has, in the past, caused concern from local residents resulting in increased call volumes to your agencies.
