Record Breaking Year at YXS

A new record has been set when it comes to passenger numbers out of the Prince George Airport. In 2012, 418,589 passengers used YXS. The previous record was 417,484 set in 2008.  2012 passenger numbers are up 4% when compared with 2011, a difference of 16,000 passengers.

President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority, John Gibson says “beating the previous record is extremely impressive because in 2008 we had more service to Vancouver and beyond than in 2012. For six months of the year, there were non-stop flights to Seattle and Calgary.”

Manager of Marketing and Communications, Lindsay Cotter says “the economy continues to be the prime reason for the traffic increase. Load factors are extremely high out of YXS and we continue to work with the carriers to add more frequency.”

Passenger numbers from the last few years:
2012 – 418, 589
2011 – 402,438
2010 – 390,340
2009 – 376,030
2008 – 417,484
2007 – 407,300

We are looking forward to continued growth in 2013 at the Prince George Airport.
