Christmas Travel Tips for Air Travel
Posted: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14TH, 2011
The Christmas Season is approaching and with that comes the busiest time of the year at the Prince George International Airport. Airport Authority Communications Manager, Lindsay Cotter, says “we are expecting passenger numbers to spike starting Friday, December 16th through to January 9, 2012.” “Holiday travel is expected to be the heaviest on Thursday, December 22nd and Friday, December 23rd” says Cotter.
The PGAA would like to remind the traveling public about some key tips to making your travels less stressful during the Holiday Season.
- Check the weather conditions in PG and at connecting airports and destinations as poor conditions can significantly impact flight schedules. Check your airline’s website for the most up to date flight information.
- Allow enough time to get to the airport at least 60 minutes before your flight time. If you’re parking your vehicle at YXS, allow extra time.
- Check your airline’s website for baggage size and weight restrictions and costs associated with checking your baggage.
- Place identification in both the inside and outside of your baggage. Be sure to check your bags to ensure prohibited items are not present. For more information visit the “Pack Smart” section of CATSA’s website (http://www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca/)
- If you’re traveling with gifts, leave them unwrapped. They may be opened by Screening Officials for inspection.
- If you are given the option, check in online; it will save you time. Most airlines offer this service 24 hours before the departure time of the flight.
If you are travelling to Mexico, be aware that your passport should be in perfect condition. Mexican customs and immigration officials are denying entry to some passengers who arrive with passports that are damaged in some way -- including rips or tears, missing corners, water marks on covers or inside pages, etc. To avoid disappointment, please examine your passport closely and ensure it is not damaged in any way.
