The Prince George Airport Authority has signed an agreement with Eurest Dining (a division of Compass Group Canada) to operate a BG (Bread Garden) Urban Café in the existing restaurant and lounge space of the terminal. Construction is set to begin in mid-January 2012 and it will occur over a 6 to 8 week period. Renovations will occur in stages, so that the restaurant will never be completely closed to customers.
President and CEO of the PG Airport Authority, John Gibson, says “this is another example of the Authority listening to customers, they asked for an upgraded food service and we are doing just that.”
BG Urban Cafe’s offer patrons a European culinary experience that is focused on innovative meal creations. Delicacies will include hand-made hot grilled sandwiches, decadent cakes, tarts and a variety of globally inspired entrees. Their rich coffee blends, exclusively roasted for BG, include Rain City Blend, Garden Blend, Fair Trade Organic Blend, Espresso Blend and Decaf Blend. Cappuccinos, lattes and frappuccinos will be new beverage offerings.
BG is a lifestyle dining establishment offering customers fresh quality meals, superior service and those hard to find lifestyle products not available in traditional eateries, all within a value driven range of prices.
During renovations the grill will remain on site and the most popular items from the current menu will continue to be offered to customers. The bar and lounge area will re-open with a new look, in addition to the opening of a new retail space that will offer customers newspapers, magazines and sundries.
The PGAA also listened to the public’s feedback and have recently installed an automated beverage service in the “Power Up Business Centre” in the Departures area of the terminal, so people are able to get coffee at any time of the day. This in addition to the automated food and beverage service installed in the Hold Room in the summer which continues to be a popular service for travelers.
There are currently 12 BG Urban Café’s operating in British Columbia, 2 of those are in Airports.
